From October 8th, the library offers the temporary exhibition “Paradisus Montserratensis: botany in the Library of Montserrat” curated by our librarian Àngels Rius i Bou, and presented in two formats: sample of documents and photographs in the Select Room of the library and virtual sample at the link https://bibliotecamontserrat.omeka.net/
The exhibition shows the abundant and important bibliographic and scientific heritage on botany that is preserved in Montserrat. The interest in botany in the Abbey of Montserrat comes from afar and that is also reflected in the collections of its library, which houses many of the most important works in the history of botany, some of them incunabula. Also books from the 16th century to the mid-20th century, engravings, documents and manuscripts with tips and home remedies and even herbal of Montserrat flora, shows the interest that has been in the monastery for botany and has come to our days.
